EU Fisheries Sessions Begin Today

LUXEMBOURG - The Agriculture and Fisheries Council sessions, dealing with the latest issues on EU fisheries, will start, under the chair of Mr Petr Gandalovic, Czech Minister for Agriculture, at 15.00 today.

Commissioner Joe Borg will present a Green Paper on the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and a communication on the sustainable development of Community aquaculture.

On Friday 24 April, the Council will hold a policy debate on the simplification of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) “a simplified CAP for Europe – a progress for all”. Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel will then present the Commission’s communication on the review of the Less Favoured Areas Scheme.

The Presidency will hold a press conference probably on Thursday [ca. 19.00] and at the close of the Council meeting.
