Cod Quota Increased

NORWAY - The Director of Fisheries has decided to increase fishing quotas for conventional vessels under 21 meters in the area north of 62 N from Monday 5 November.

Vessels with a length under 11 meters will be given a quota increase of 41 per cent, while cod quotas to vessels with a length between 11 - 21 meters, the quota will be increased by 19 per cent. Quota increases are given as maximum allowances.

On the 22 October, the bycatch rate increased to 50 per cent.

The quota increase will remedy the situation for vessels that have trouble keeping to the proportion of cod required in the legal catch.
