Chinese officials visit Fisheries Department

BRUNEI DARUSSALAM - A delegation led by Mr Li Zhujiang, Director General of Guangdong Ocean and Fishery Administration, People's Republic of China, and five other officials conducted a working visit to Brunei Darussalam's Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, last week.

The objective of the visit was to exchange information and hold discussions regarding the possibility of cooperation between fisheries in Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of China.

Guandong Province is one of the provinces in China where the fishery sector is developing very rapidly, and one of the largest in terms of fisheries and seafood processing.

The Fisheries Department organised several activities for the group during their stay in Brunei Darussalam. They paid a courtesy call on the Acting Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamdillah Haji Abdul Wahab, on the afternoon of 8 September 2007.

They also visited the Fisheries Department's facilities, such as the Aquaculture Development Centre at Meragang, Fisheries Landing Complex at Muara and the Fish Culture Industry at Pelompong, Muara.
