Bahrain Restocking the Sea with Sea Bream

BAHRAIN - Under a new initiative 100,000 sea breams will be released into Bahrain's waters in an effort to create an artificial coral reef.

The new plan will see 80,000 hamoor and 20,000 subaiti breams weighing eight to 10gm will be put into the sea in a two-week operation that hopes to boost the future of aquaculture in the region.

According to Growfish, the move follows instructions from Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife president Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The operation will also be extended to cover maritime protected havens, including the Hawar Islands.
