Aquaculture Accused Of Causing Bay Pollution
SOUTH AUSTRALIA - A Louth Bay land owner says aquaculture on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula has caused visible pollution in a local bay.
Madeline Shoeder owns Louth Bay Island and says the enclosed bay on the mainland has become boggy and slimy, seagrass is discoloured and brown algae covers the sea floor.
Ms Shoeder is calling for a moratorium on aquaculture in the area until its affects can be studied.
She says pollution in the bay should act as a warning for what is happening to the entire region.
