Prof Stanley is acknowledged as a world-leading expert in the area of algal biotechnology. Over the last 10 years she has pioneered seaweed cultivation in the UK, seeking to address a number of national and international issues surrounding food and energy security, water availability, ageing populations, increasing carbon dioxide levels and climate change.
