Alice Jones is a marine ecologist who is motivated by a desire to understand and protect marine ecosystem functions under changing environmental conditions and the impacts of human activities. Her research programme focuses on climate change mitigation, restoration and resilience in coastal ecosystems.

She works in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders, frequently engaging with state and federal government environmental managers and policymakers in Australia, as well as industry and NGOs. She has a PhD from the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton (UK) and recently won a Tall Poppy of Science Award from the Australian Institute of Policy and Science (2021).
