Workshop for prawn farmers

FUJI - Creating awareness on the mechanisms of freshwater prawn farming for commercial purposes was the aim of a workshop held in Suva on Wednesday.

The workshop at the University of the South Pacific focused on how participants who were from various backgrounds could broaden their knowledge on freshwater aquaculture.

"The main purpose of the workshop is to tell people that freshwater prawn farming is a possible business livelihood opportunity," said the Institute of Marine Resources director at USP, Kenneth MacKay.

Mr MacKay said the workshop was initiated after they felt people were eager to learn more about prawn farming.
