Vic growers commit to aquaculture traceability

AUSTRALIA - Full traceability for all Victorian aquaculture products will be developed after a commitment by growers.

The Gippsland Aquaculture Industry Network and international supply chain company EAN Australia have agreed to work together on a new system of farm-to-plate traceability.

The network's Barry Dance says clearly distinguishing farmed fish from wild catch will open new market opportunities.

"We want the customer to be absolutely confident that the fish product they're consuming in the restaurant, be it a murray cod or a barramundi or whatever, that they can eat it with absolute confidence knowing that the quality control chain is in place," he said.
