Special Features in VietFish 2008

The event organiser, Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors, hopes to draw more participants than the years before with some special activities.

Although it is an annual exhibition for Vietnamese and foreign fishing and seafood processing enterprises to show their products and to find new partners and customers, Vietfish is also an interesting place for visitors, the exporters association said.

This year, local seafood enterprises are encouraged to participate in two contests Seafood Smart and Seafood Delicious.

In Seafood Smart, participants will be tested on their knowledge of labour law, social issues, and seafood in particular and it will also be broadcast live as a TV game show.

Seafood Delicious will give a chance for participating companies to introduce and promote their seafood products for foreign and domestic culinary lovers and to practice new methods in cooking marine species.

Another first for Vietfish 2008 will be the longest shrimp paste in Vietnam, which is 40 metres in length. Cau Tre company (CTE JSCO) who produced a 36-metre shrimp paste last year (the longest shrimp paste at that time) will be trying to beat their record in Vietfish this year. CTE JSCO has kept secret the recipe information, ingredients and cooking methods, and how they will preserve the meal in very hot weather of southern Vietnam during the exhibition period.
