Nearly 300 hundred participants, including scientists, academicians, students, farmers, entrepreneurs and policy makers, will be part of the deliberations, the NewIndianExpress reports.
The symposium will deal mainly with five topics related to cage aquaculture, an emerging trend in the fisheries sector in the country.
The discussions will be held on production systems, breeding and seed production, nutrition and feed, health and environment managements and economics, livelihood and policies related to cage aquaculture.
In the absence of a mariculture policy in the country, the symposium is expected to come up with policy guidelines on open water cage culture by drawing from the experience of countries that have taken big strides in the area, said Dr A Gopalakrishnan, convener of the symposium and the director of Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute.
