Senator Villar appreciated the local government of Maasin City for its efforts to support agri and aquaculture development thru the holding of trade fairs every year. This is a way of promoting more production in agriculture, he said.
He noted that the activity is truly helping the farmers and fisherfolks and contributes in the alleviation of poverty in the community.
He also encouraged the people to be an entrepreneur even without money and not to depend for employment in government which might run out of work for more job applicants. A Tondo boy in his childhood yet he made his way from poverty to being the current Senate President as he ventured in business of his own and coupled with hard work and patience, according to Villar.
The Pabulhon Festival show cased the farm produce from all of the 70 barangays of the city to include private garden owners trading rare species of plants. Barangay San Rafael, the home of abaca products also displayed ready- to- wear polo barong made of abaca fabric, Barangay Manhilo produced special alamang in plastic cans. Some barangays also showcased live tilapia in improvised ponds, vermiculture, homebake cookies, banana chips, ube chips, ampao, bukorillo, among other delicacies.
