Connors Bros. closes Grand Manan fish plant
US - Connors Brothers says the strong Canadian dollar is to blame for its decision to close a sardine plant on Grand Manan and eliminate 140 seasonal jobs. Last Thursday, Connors Brothers held its annual Christmas party on Grand Manan and told workers they'd see them next year. The workers process fish from May to November, and draw EI benefits the rest of the year.
