Aquaculture for all

Competition under spotlight at Aquaculture Europe

'Competing claims' is the theme of premier aquaculture event, Aquaculture Europe 2007. The event takes place in Istanbul, Turkey, from 24 to 27 October and will focus on the various levels of competition currently facing the aquaculture sector.

Organiser, the European Aquaculture Society, says that 'claims' exist from other stakeholders with respect to physical space, investment and other finances, resources for says feed, raw materials and water resources, technology and others. The future development of the industry will depend on finding a balance between resources, environmental requirements and global market demands.

The conference and exhibition also takes on a new format this year. The two main features - science and trade - will be linked through an industry forum. It will include special events, such as an industry day or ‘farmers day’, workshops for industry and the AE2007 student forum.

A social programme is also integrated into the conference's proceedings
