Chilean says world's fish farms must take action
CHILE - BC and the world will face big environmental challenges from fish farms if more action isn't taken.
An expert from Chile speaking at BC Hearings on Aquaculture, Rodrigo Pizarro, says more global and local standards are needed, "I envy the standards you have already but clearly, this is not sufficient and this Commission will come up with some recommendations."
Pizarro was brought to speak at the hearings by the David Suzuki Foundation.
He says in Chile, larger fish farms are buying smaller ones and that fewer companies means fewer jobs and lower environmental standards.
