Changes Tipped To NZ Aquaculture Laws
NEW ZEALAND - Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton says further reform to aquaculture laws is possible, if it becomes clear that industry development is being seriously impeded.
Recent reforms took years to implement and followed a two-year ban on new farm applications.
Now there are claims the government will struggle to fulfil its obligation to give Maori 20% of any new space. If that does not happen the government has to pay cash compensation.
