Aquaculture ruining SA beaches, MP says
AUSTRALIA - A South Australian Greens MP says public beaches on the Eyre Peninsula and West Coast are being destroyed by the growth of the aquaculture industry.
Mark Parnell is visiting Port Neill and Anxious Bay, where locals are fighting the Primary Industry and Resources Department's decision to give areas of the coastline to private industry.
Mr Parnell says he will fight in Parliament for the Environment Department to set up conservation zones before any more sea is lost.
He says all proposed aquaculture sites should to have to go through community consultation.
