A$1.66 Milion Project to Develop Aquaculture Zone
AUSTRALIA - A A$1.66 million project to develop an 'investment ready' aquaculture zone in coastal waters on Western Australia's south coast has been announced.
The south coast aquaculture development zone will support large-scale development of the aquaculture industry, attract investment and increase jobs, and was made possible by $1.3 million of Royalties for Regions funding.
The area being considered for the zone encompasses the South-West, Great Southern and Goldfields-Esperance regions, and is expected to contain multiple areas near regional centres, producing native shellfish and finfish species.
The three-year project will be carried out in stages in consultation with aquaculture producers, representative organisations, investors and local communities.
