Vietnamese Shrimp Exports Likely To Receive Low Anti-dumping Tariffs

VIETNAM - The US Department of Commerce (DOC) may put low anti-dumping tariffs on shrimp imported from Viet Nam

Vietnamese Shrimp Exports Likely To Receive Low Anti-dumping Tariffs - VIETNAM - The US Department of Commerce (DOC) may put low anti-dumping tariffs on shrimp imported from Viet Nam

A few days before the DOC announces its preliminary ruling, observers predicted that Washington may give a gentle verdict to shrimp imports into the US from Viet Nam.

Matthew Nicely, a lawyer of the Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, an US law company which is representing the Vietnamese side in the US shrimp anti-dumping lawsuit against the country, said he did not think that the US would impose punitive tariffs on shrimp imports from Viet Nam.

Viet Nam has sold shrimp to the US market at relatively high prices, the lawyer said, adding that the US, therefore, would not feel it necessary to punish them unduly.
