Ms Tina Joemat-Pettersson, South Africa’s Minster for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will open the Congress proceedings on Wednesday morning, 10 April 2013, in front of an international audience of more than 600 delegates representing the global feed and food chain.
Hosted by AFMA, the Animal Feed Manufacturers Association of South Africa, the 4th GFFC will bring together an excellent line up of over 80 international speakers, including global leaders, dignitaries, and participants from civil society, academia and industry. The discussions will cover the whole feed manufacturing and food processing value chain, with a special focus on Feed and Food Safety, Food Security, Technology, and Sustainability.
Mario Sergio Cutait, IFIF Chairman, said: "The theme for the 4th GFFC ‘Safe Feed & Food for All' links to the global challenge to feed 9 billion people by 2050 and to do so sustainably. I believe this theme reflects the aspiration of the whole feed & food value chain and I know that IFIF’s view on Sustainability matches this aspiration: ‘produce more, using less, at an affordable cost to the consumer’."
Mr Cutait added: "Our aim, together with the FAO and our regional partners, has always been to provide a global platform for industry, experts and governments to come together to discuss critical issues of food and feed safety, technology and sustainability. As our ambitious agenda illustrates, the 4th GFFC can rightly claim to be another leading example of these efforts."
Mr Loutjie Dunn, AFMA Chairman, says “bringing the GFFC to the African continent is not only a unique opportunity for exchange with the whole global agri chain, but also a sign of the growing importance of Africa in the world market, and I am delighted that we are able to host the AFMA Forum alongside this important Congress."
