Scallop ranch proponents defend project

AUSTRALIA - The manager of a proposed sea scallop ranch in Hervey Bay has defended the project's assessment process. The Queensland Conservation Council (QCC) is concerned the plan has avoided thorough scrutiny and says it has had to use freedom of information laws to look at related data. Project manager Dr Clive Keenan says a report explaining the science behind the project was published in 1993 and is widely available.
