Pearl farm gets go ahead
AUSTRALIA - After more than 10 years of trying, Port Stephens Pearls has finally succeeded in getting approval for its plans to develop a commercial pearl oyster farm in Port Stephens.
The Land and Environment Court has approved the plan, which is subject to 31 conditions.
The State Government has twice rejected the pearl oyster farm, but the company appealed to the Land and Environment Court, and Justice Talbot handed down his judgement yesterday.
The approval allows for three pearl oyster leases to be established in Port Stephens, covering 30 hectares.
