NZ evaluates Fin fish opportunities

NEW ZEALAND - A South Island Salmon company is among those evaluating new fin fish farming ventures that the government has indicated it is keen to see developed in the North Island. </b> <br><br> Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton announced at the annual aquaculture industry conference in Nelson last week that aquaculture has been formally added to the government&#39;s agenda as a development priority. <br><br> Economic Development Minister Trevor Mallard also launched a new strategy aimed at tripling aquaculture&#39;s value to more than $1 billion by 2025. <br><br> Mallard says the government may work with the industry to establish fin fish farming in the North Island. <br><br> New Zealand King Salmon chief executive, Paul Steere, says it will be looking for opportunities to expand north. <br><br> <i>Source: RNZ via TVNZ</i>
