From Oil Rigs to Fish Farms

US - Hubbs SeaWorld Research Institute, based in San Diego, Calif., recently announced plans to set up a fish and shellfish farm in the Pacific Ocean on a decommissioned Grace oil platform, 10 miles off Ventura County, Calif. It would be the first of its kind in U.S. waters, and the forerunner of a far-reaching movement toward leasing sections of the ocean to the aquaculture industry.
