EU Project Stages Fisheries Workshops

EU - The PROFET Policy, an EU funded research programme is organising a series of workshops to look at aquaculture and fisheries throughout Europe.

This month there have been workshops on the Mediterranean fisheries in Marseilles and the Northern fisheries in Coenhagen.

The workshops are described by the PROFET programme as an innovative approach for the promotion of RTD development in the European aquaculture and fisheries sector.

The workshops are organised on a thematic and regional basis, covering fisheries and aquaculture, which will fodus on promoting an exchange of views between aquaculture producers, fishers, scientists, National and Europeand policy-makers and other stakeholders.

The workshops will each provide the opportunity for presentation and debate of the issues identifies by the different sub-sectors of European fisheries and aquaculture, putting accent on regional specificities. Key speakers will provide the background topics and guidance, while experienced professionals will discuss these issues in the light of their experience.

The general structure of all of the PROFET Workshops is to have several thematic sessions where a short introduction will be given by the Chairman, which will be followed by 20-minute presentations on specific subject areas relevant to the theme. Each thematic session will finish with 30 minutes for Question and Debate.
