Aquaculture impresses

AUSTRALIA - Federal Fisheries Minister Senator Eric Abetz was impressed with Eyre Peninsula's aquaculture during a visit to the region yesterday.

During his eight months in the portfolio he has dealt mainly with illegal fishing and buybacks of fishing licenses.

"Aquaculture in my mind is the growing area," he said. "The very fact that we have a fishing buyback indicates that there is a limited supply."

He said seafood had many benefits and those benefits were becoming more publicised, which meant more demand for seafood.
