Aquaculture for all

Aqua Africa 2011 Set To Move Industry Forward

MALAWI - The Aquaculture Association of Southern Africa (AASA) is hosting the 10th bi-annual Aqua Africa conference in Malawi, between 13-16 September 2011.

The Aquaculture Association of Southern Africa (AASA) is the umbrella association that represents regional aquaculture and plays a vital role in information dissemination and communication between all industry stakeholders. AASA is the regional hub for aquaculture and it plays a central role in moving the aquaculture sector forward on the African continent.

One of the ways the Association strives to achieve this is by hosting a bi-annual conference that has developed into an international event of great stature and importance. This conference provides a platform for industry players, experts and Government to share information and move the industry forward.

This year the AASA conference will be hosted in Malawi in cooperation with Bunda College. Following on from highly successful conferences in 2007 (South Africa) and 2009 (Namibia), AASA trusts that the Malawi event will lead the industry to new heights in regional cooperation and development. If ever there was a time at which aquaculture development is both essential to the African continent and in which rapid development is imminent, then it is surely now.
