As part of this expansion, Umami Bioworks has also unveiled the world’s first animal-free polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN), a rapidly emerging marine ingredient used in skincare, wound healing and regenerative medicine.
Traditionally derived from purified DNA extracted from salmon or trout sperm, PDRN production faces challenges related to supply consistency, ethical concerns and biosecurity risks. Umami Bioworks’ proprietary cell biology platform offers a breakthrough alternative: PDRN derived from cultivated marine cell lines under precisely controlled conditions, eliminating the need to transport salmon testicles worldwide and delivering a bioequivalent product.
