The data from 2005 and 2006 is collated from the monthly log files produced by the web server. The data has been filtered to remove visiting spiders and web-bots.
A New version of the web site was launched in October 2006, complimented by a dedicated site wide statistical analysis package which came online November 2006 (see below for more detail).

The following visitor breakdowns come from three sets of data:
- Registered users,
- Newsletter Subscribers and
- Geographical Page view statistics (identified locations only, based on Q1 2007 figures).
As of March 2007 the registered users database included over 4,500 entries and ThePoultrySite's free weekly newsletter was sent out to over 3,400 subscribers. The site's visitor and page view numbers are shown above.

Compilation of statistics
The statistics from November 2006 are produced by a dedicated site wide statistical analysis package which physically counts and records the actual numbers as part of a visitor's browsing activities. It also automatically identifies all visiting spiders and web bots and precludes them form the numbers. This method of producing the statistics is far more accurate as it does not rely on software and filters "interpreting" the log files, which is inherently inaccurate and usually results in very inflated figures.
The website statistical data for 2005 and up to November 2006 was collated from the monthly log files produced by the web server and analysed using the proprietary software
123 Log Analyser v3.10. The software is programmed to filter the data prior to analysis to remove the
major visiting spiders/bots.
The statistics for this period were revised (downwards) occasionally due to unidentified spiders and newly applied filters. Both automatic and manual filtering of the raw log files causes the raw statistics to be revised downwards considerably. Such filtering is needed to take account of extraneous factors that boost the log statistics erroneously.
